Federal Loan Processing
Federal Student Loan Counseling, the Master Promissory Note (MPN), and the Annual Student Loan Acknowledgement will help you understand your rights and responsibilities as a borrower as well as provide information and terms to help you make the right choices for your education and your future. It is also required.
The loan counseling session covers William D. Ford Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program loans:
- Direct Subsidized Loans
- Direct Unsubsidized Loans
- Direct PLUS Loans (parents of undergraduate students and graduate/professional students)
Entrance Loan Counseling & MPN
Before receiving a student loan, borrowers must complete an entrance counseling session and a MPN, which will provide useful tips and tools to help you develop a budget for managing your educational expenses and help you understand your loan responsibilities.
Click here to complete your required online entrance loan counseling session. This online session will take you about 20 to 30 minutes.
- Sign-in using the student Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID
- Complete the Entrance Counseling found under the ‘Loans and Grants’ tab.
- Complete the Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan MPN found under the ‘Loans and Grants’ tab.
Exit Loan Counseling
Prior to graduating or leaving school, Direct Loan borrowers must complete exit counseling. The Direct Loan Exit Counseling will explain your rights and responsibilities as a Direct Loan borrower.
