Dr. Janice Young is married with three children and one grandbaby. She received her Ph.D. in Education, focusing on Special Education Leadership from Capella University. Dr. Young taught Kindergarten-5th grade Special Education, worked as an educational evaluator, served as a principal/special education director, and was a teacher evaluator for K-12th grade. Dr. Young started at Southern Wesleyan in 2016 working with student teachers part-time while teaching courses and in the fall of 2019 assumed the full time role as the coordinator of field studies/assistant professor of education. Dr. Young enjoys helping teacher candidates grow to their full potential as an educator.

Dr. Young's hobbies include spending time outdoors with her family in the sun by the swimming pool and planting flowers as she enjoys watching God’s beauty grow through her plants. Also, Dr. Young enjoys singing on the praise team at her church and teaching the elementary Sunday School class.
