Summer Ministry Teams

Summer Ministry Teams Mission

Summer Ministry Teams at Southern Wesleyan University exist to provide opportunities for students to experience ministry in a camp setting as they use their gifts to come alongside camp ministries through counseling, worship, and service for the glory of Christ and the expansion of His Kingdom.

Summer Ministry Teams Vision

Teams are sent to various camps throughout the summer to serve in any capacity that the camp sees fit this includes but is not limited to:

  • providing leadership in the cabins of campers
  • leading in programming and activities
  • leading worship
  • serving in the kitchen or as safety
  • teaching in small group settings or breakout sessions

SWU Student Goals

Lead and Represent

Set examples and help students fix their eyes on Jesus and guide them in transformational moments. Represent the body of Christ and Southern Wesleyan University in a positive light.

Protect and Guide

Create safe and fun environments that help reinforce rules and boundaries set by the camp. Help students to seek healthy places to continue walking out their faith when they return home.

Listen and Understand

Be someone outside of a student's context who can listen and understand. There will be moments when a counselor will pastorally care for a camper.
