
Articulation Agreements
Statewide transfer agreements facilitate the transfer of academic credits among institutions of higher education. Southern Wesleyan University is an Academic Partner with the South Carolina Technical College System as part of the Partnership Agreement with SC Technical College System As a member in this partnership, Southern Wesleyan University:
- Facilitates the development of detailed articulation guides for transferable programs, collaborates with SC technical colleges with reverse transfer efforts, and cooperates with SC technical colleges to improve academic advising for transfer students;
- Recognizes the Statewide Articulation Agreement of 86 Transferable Courses and will guarantee transfer of these courses in which the student earns a minimum grade of C-.
- Guarantees junior class standing for SC technical college Associate of Arts and Associate of Science graduates with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
- The Transfer Course Guide displays the type of transfer credit awarded by SWU for each transferable course. If a course does not appear, the student may submit a written request to the Office of Academic Records to have the course content reviewed for possible transferability.
SWU Connect is a partnership between select two-year colleges and Southern Wesleyan University with the intent to enhance the enrollment process for transfer students by providing support and services which facilitate a successful transition to SWU.
Students who complete any associate degree at a partnering two-year college will be guaranteed admission to SWU upon successfully completing all steps for enrollment, including meeting the established admissions requirements. While admissions is guaranteed, courses will be evaluated for transfer credit and applicability to the intended SWU major.
Benefits of SWU Connect
- Students guaranteed admission to SWU by meeting admissions standards.
- Enhanced academic advising. Connect students will have the support from SWU academic advisors or academic success coaches to assist with course planning.
- Transient student courses at a reduced rate. Connect students will be offered the opportunity to take up to 18 credit hours, which can include no more than three (3) credit hours per academic term at SWU (on-campus or online). Tuition will be equivalent to SWU’s dual enrollment Gateway Student rate, plus a discounted technology fee per credit hour. Eligible courses will only include those which an equivalent TCTC course is NOT offered.
- Connect students have the opportunity to participate in identified SWU programs and events. These opportunities may include campus and cultural events. Participation in extracurricular programs at SWU will require that Bridge student meet existing program eligibility criteria.

Graduates of an Associate Degree in Applied Science/Early Childhood – Transfer Pathway who meet all the criteria listed below will be accepted without further review of credentials, with Junior standing at Southern Wesleyan University in the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Family Studies major:
The criteria are as follows:
- The student will have received the Associate Degree in Applied Science/Early Childhood – Transfer Pathway, NAEYC accredited program at Blue Ridge Community College.
- The student’s cumulative grade point average must be 2.0 or higher.
- A grade of “C-“or better is necessary in all coursework transferred toward the Early Childhood and Family Students bachelor’s degree at Southern Wesleyan University.
- No more than 68 semester credits earned at Blue Ridge Community College will be accepted in transfer by Southern Wesleyan University.
The joint agreement between Kingswood University and Southern Wesleyan University will be open to Kingswood University graduates of the Associate of Arts program who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s degree at Southern Wesleyan University. Qualified Kingswood University graduates who earn a minimum of C- on each course may receive transfer credit for Southern Wesleyan University courses to be applied toward the Core Curriculum (General Education Requirements) as follows:
