Watts receives award
Snead State Community College presented Dr. Karen Watts (’74) with a 2016 Chancellor’s Award during a ceremony Nov. 22 in Montgomery, Ala. Watts is director of the college’s Social Sciences and Human Services Division. SSCC President Dr. Robert Exley said that the Chancellor’s Award is an opportunity to recognize the college’s exceptional employees for their exceptional work and commitment to students’ success.
Watts has been with Snead State for 10 years. In addition to serving as the division director for Social Sciences and Human Services, she is also the director for the Child Development Program. Watts has received the Professional Excellence Award from Southern Wesleyan University’s School of Education and National Board Certification in early Adolescence Mathematics.
Her husband, Dr. Jonathan Watts (’74), chairs the Humanities and Fine Arts Division at Snead State.
Watts is among four awardees at Snead State. The Chancellor’s Awards began 27 years ago as a way to reward and encourage outstanding performance, creativity and dedicated service. The awards are sponsored through the Chancellor’s Office with the Alabama Community College System.
