SWU students compete in NATS
Seven Southern Wesleyan University students competed in the South Carolina District Chapter of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) competition at Converse College Oct. 19.
According to Dr. Amber James, assistant professor of music at Southern Wesleyan, “They all received excellent feedback from voice professionals from around the state.” Joshua Bruce Amerson of Rock Hill won first place in his category and, along with students Alex Birch of Six Mile; Katie Cook of Carthage, N.C.; Zachary Wheeler of Kannapolis, N.C.; and Samantha Calcutt of Walterboro; will advance to regional auditions at the University of South Carolina in March 2020.
