SWU North Augusta helping provide a ‘home away from home’
Southern Wesleyan University is collecting items to make life easier for families staying with hospitalized children in the Augusta area.
According to Jason Norton, regional director of Southern Wesleyan’s North Augusta education center, the university is partnering with Ronald McDonald House Charities® and offering to waive the application fee for prospective students who bring in a donation. Donations can be brought to Southern Wesleyan’s location at 802 East Martintown Rd., Suite 101 in North Augusta.
Donated household items include white bed linens (twin and queen), mattress covers (full zip- twin and queen), laundry detergent, dryer sheets, bleach, furniture polish, 40-watt energy saver light bulbs, Swiffer Wet and Dry Pads, white hand towels, all-purpose surface cleaner and disinfectant wipes.
Donated electronics and office supplies can include G-rated DVDs, AA batteries, a laminating machine, printer paper, HP 20 ink cartridges and “forever” postage stamps.
Kitchen items needed include hand soap, trash bags (55, 4 and 8 gallon, small and medium), large storage containers, paper towels and Ziploc bags (snack and gallon sizes).
Donated food items can include juice, breakfast Items, baked goods, casseroles for freezing, milk/dairy items, sandwich items, sugar, creamer, bread, eggs, butter and various kinds of baking goods.
