SWU named Military Friendly School
Victory Media, publisher of “G.I. Jobs” and the “Guide to Military Friendly Schools,” ranked Southern Wesleyan in the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students and dedicating resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation. The methodology used for making the Military Friendly® Schools list has changed the student veteran landscape to one much more transparent, and has played a significant role over the past six years in capturing and advancing best practices to support military students across the country. The survey captures more than 50 leading practices in supporting military students and is available free of charge to the more than 8,000 schools approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill funding.
Southern Wesleyan recognizes the service of military personnel in protecting the nation’s freedoms. The university offers tuition discounts to active duty military, National Guard and reserve members, as well as for the spouses of active duty military personnel – available for both undergraduate and graduate programs.
“Coming from a family with a rich military history, I consider it truly an honor to serve our veterans and service members and their families in the capacity of veterans’ benefits administrator at Southern Wesleyan,” said Donna Pittman, senior records counselor. “It gives me an opportunity to give a little back to those who have sacrificed so much for the freedoms we all enjoy. I’m proud to be a part of an institution that is so supportive of our troops.”
