SWU Celebrates December 2023 Graduates
CENTRAL, S.C. — On Friday, December 8, 2023, Southern Wesleyan University celebrated its on-campus and online graduates at Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center Auditorium on the main campus.
Vice Provost of Academic Initiatives at SWU, Dr. Chad Stutz, gave the commencement address. Reflecting on the event afterwards, he observed: “Commencement, as President Barker reminded us, is a sacred occasion in the life of each student and the university community. I was truly honored when the president invited me to be the December commencement speaker, and it was an immense privilege to share this sacred moment with our amazing graduates as they prepared to embark on a life of faithful service to the Lord.”
The University Brass Ensemble and University Singers provided music during the ceremony. Rev. Mike Hilson led the invocation, and Rev. Quint Pitts led the Litany of Servanthood. Dr. Robert McFarland presented the graduates, and Dr. William Barker conferred the degrees.
