Staton tabbed as new SWU softball coach
Director of Athletics Chris Williams made the announcement on Wednesday morning. Staton (formerly McGuire) was most recently the lead contact for the program after the resignation of Anna Ball in August. Staton served on staff under Ball during the 2014 season as an assistant coach.
"We are excited to add Becca to our staff," said Williams. "We had several really good candidates but ultimately Becca is the right fit to lead our program right now and to continue our recent successes."
Staton played for four years at SWU, competing in 183 games during her time. She compiled 21 RBI as a senior which ranked fourth on the team. Staton was a senior during the program's most successful season in the last decade, winning 28 games in 2013 and advancing to the conference tournament for the first time in three years.
