Southern Wesleyan University Announces Dr. Chad Stutz as Vice Provost of Academic Initiatives
CENTRAL, S.C. – SWU welcomes Dr. Chad Stutz to campus, where he will be Vice Provost of Academic Initiatives. Dr. Stutz’s career has been spent in academia, teaching and serving at colleges nationwide; he is passionate about innovation in higher education.
Dr. Stutz completed a Bachelor of Arts at Wheaton College, a Master of Arts at the University of Nevada, and a Ph.D. at Boston College. He was an instructor and tenured professor at institutions throughout the Midwest, Southern U.S., and Eastern Seaboard.
Dr. Robert McFarland, Provost at Southern Wesleyan University, said “Dr. Stutz will serve as Vice Provost. He brings a heart and mind uniquely equipped by God for service in Christian higher education. Dr. Stutz is a talented educator who previously served as the Chair of the Department of English, Languages and Linguistics at Gordon College. I am excited about Dr. Stutz's passion for equipping others to love God with all of their minds. Southern Wesleyan University is fortunate to have the humble Christlike leadership and wisdom Chad brings.”
Dr. Stutz is the author of Evangelicals and Aesthetics from the 1750s to the 1930s and articles and essays on C.S. Lewis, the Bible in Victorian England, and the ramifications of failure and boredom in the classroom. He and his wife, Jill, have three children: Jason, Susie, and Eliza.
