Quarandillo named Men's Soccer Coach
Josh Quarandillo was named head men's soccer coach for the Warriors.
Southern Wesleyan is excited to announce the hiring of Josh Quarandillo as the new head men's soccer coach for the Warriors.
"We are excited to announce Coach Q as our next head coach for the men's soccer program," said Director of Athletics Chris Williams. "He brings a wealth of experience including international familiarity from his time in South Africa. He and his family are perfect fits for the SWU community! I am excited to see him lead our talented and young team in 2019. Coach Q has a strong desire to mentor and love students which will be the foundation to finding success for these men and this program."
Josh Quarandillo comes to SWU from Wiley College where he was the head coach of both the Men's and Women's soccer programs. During his time at Wiley, he had multiple players receive all-conference and player of the week honors, and the teams improved on the field in both goals to game ratio and shot on goal.
"Josh Quarandillo brings to SWU a level of experience and passion that is so encouraging!" said Southern Wesleyan University President Todd Voss. "His heart is clearly aligned with our University mission, and the way he has articulated his plan to impact every player and every fan is exciting. Josh will become a huge asset within our growing athletic program, and his leadership will only add fuel to a program that is striving for excellence in every way."
Prior to coaching at Wiley, Quarandillo served as the head coach of both boys and girls soccer at Caldwell Academy in Greensboro, N.C., where several of his players received All-Conference recognition. Coach Quarandillo also has experience coaching and playing internationally. In 2006, Quandillo founded and directed the Alpha Blazers Football Club in South Africa. While there, he coached several hundred players who went on to play both collegiate and professional soccer. While developing these and other players, he continued to develop his amateur career by playing for the Maritzburg Hotspurs Futsal Team, Technicals FC and the historic Savages FC in Durban.
Quarandillo received a B.A. in liberal studies from Bethel College, where he played both soccer and golf for the Pilots. After graduation, he went into the mission field where he served with World Partners and Enable Now! in both the United States and South Africa.
"I am humbled by the opportunity to lead the men's soccer program at Southern Wesleyan University," said Quarandillo. "I would like to thank Dr. Voss, Dr. Brockinton, and Mr. Williams for their confidence in me. Furthermore, I would like to thank the Athletic Department staff, Rev. Dill, and Human Resources for their hospitality and assistance in making this a very positive transition for my family. I am proud to coach at an institution that values spiritual development, academic success, community service, and athletic excellence - in that order, and I am eager to begin serving the student athletes in these areas. I thank the Lord for this opportunity to join the Warrior family!"
Quarandillo is married to Jamie Quarandillo. Together they have seven children. The Quarandillos will transition from Texas to South Carolina in January.
