New concentrations enhance SWU business program
Human resource management, management and supply chain management concentrations added to business degree for adult evening students
Southern Wesleyan University is launching new concentrations as part of their BS degree program in business administration for students enrolled in its adult evening program.
The university’s business administration degree offerings now include human resource management, management, and supply chain management. These three concentrations will be offered in a fully-online format.
“In this age of rapid changes across industries, these new concentrations are designed to meet the needs of some key areas of growth in business,” said Jeannie Trudel, dean of the university’s School of Business.
Students enrolled in the human resource management concentration will learn more about a field devoted to developing and managing an organization’s employees. It allows students to integrate the strategic role of human resource management with other operational and business functions within the organization. Those enrolled in this concentration will develop an understanding of the fundamentals of human resource management and become prepared for service in personnel administration, development and training of employees in diverse settings.
The human resource management concentration received approval from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Southern Wesleyan’s human resource management concentration fully aligns with SHRM’s HR Curriculum Guidebook and templates. SHRM sets standards followed in business programs at institutions of higher learning Worldwide.
Students enrolled in the management concentration will become equipped for effective management and supervision of resources and operations to accomplish an organization’s goals and objectives. This concentration maximizes students’ flexibility and helps them develop competency to advance into management positions on various levels.
Students enrolled in the supply chain management concentration will gain understanding of a field devoted to creating efficiencies in a company’s supply chain that encompasses the planning and management of all activities involved in sourcing, procurement, operations and logistics management. Students will be introduced to how suppliers, intermediaries, third-party providers, and customers are integrated in management of supply and demand both within and across companies.
