Morgan Receives Dr. John “Chuck” Mealy Outstanding Volunteer Service Award
CENTRAL, S.C. – On October 27, 2021 Southern Wesleyan University held the annual President’s Gala. Mrs. Sandra Morgan received the 2021 Dr. John “Chuck” Mealy Outstanding Volunteer Service Award at the event. The annual award is bestowed upon others that demonstrate the undeniable characteristics of a servant-leader, selflessly and consistently volunteering time, talent, treasure, and spiritual gifts that embody and reflect the love of Christ.
Morgan is a member the National Alumni Board and a generous financial supporter of SWU. She has also been working for several years to establish an endowed scholarship for SWU students. Dr. Scott Drury, Vice President for Advancement, introduced Morgan as the recipient saying, “Whether it be at Alumni Board meetings, graduation, homecoming or a number of other SWU events, you will see this year’s recipient hard at work doing whatever it takes to get the job done.”
Earlier this year Morgan published a cookbook entitled “Go Wide, Around the World with Contagious Flavors.” Expanding on Morgan’s work, Drury states, “The inspiration for this project was 40 years in the making. A friendship with a SWU student and soccer player from Nigeria, a chance meeting some 40 years later with the daughter of that soccer player who herself was a SWU student at the time and the subsequent friendship that developed. All this led our recipient to establish an international scholarship and to create ‘Go Wide’ as a passion project to help fund it.”
