Howell receives music ensemble scholarship
Sara Howell of Walhalla signed a letter of intent with Southern Wesleyan University’s Department of Music May 4, where she will enroll in fall 2016. Standing behind Howell are, from left: Jane Dill, chair of Southern Wesleyan’s Division of Fine Arts; Dr. Daryl Jachens, professor of music and coordinator of studies in music; Dr. Todd Voss, Southern Wesleyan’s president; and Gregory Day, associate professor of music and director of instrumental ensembles.
Howell, who plays bassoon, clarinet and saxophone, has studied at San Diego State University and Greenville Technical College. She will be majoring in music education – elementary music.
The music scholarship is renewable and open to students who are active in their school’s music programs and Southern Wesleyan students involved in each of the university’s three performing groups.
