Help for hurricane victims
Southern Wesleyan University students and alumni, concerned about the tragedy surrounding Hurricane Katrina, have found ways to help victims affected by the storm. As the university checked on its alumni in the gulf coast region, Bryant located Pollitt, a 2000 music major. Her home sustained minor damage, but she passed along the need for people in her area to have shower shoes, socks, undergarments, T-shirts and children’s clothes, which Bryant collected and sent to her. The university contributed more than 1,000 items. In addition to the items mailed to hurricane victims, the senior class is donating $250 to the Red Cross. The other classes have followed suit, bringing the students’ donation to a total of $1,000.
