Graduate learns a passion for people at SWU
Nicholas Hindes, a Southern Wesleyan University Psychology graduate, travels the nation helping others connect with God.
Working as a firebrand for Forge, a parachurch ministry formerly known as Kingdom Building Ministries, Hindes travels to camps and conferences, speaking to youth and adults and conducting workshops about teamwork and other topics. Hindes has learned skills in life planning and coaching that he uses to help others discover their God-given strengths.
His years at Southern Wesleyan were formative ones in his spiritual life.
“I really feel like Southern Wesleyan prepared me holistically. Some of my favorite classes were with Dr. Bob Black on preaching and homiletics,” Hindes said. “I really started to discover that passion in a lot of those preaching classes and I also started discovering my passion for people.”
Hindes’ psychology classes were another area where those skills continued to thrive and grow.
“What I loved about Southern Wesleyan Psychology classes was having the ability to come alongside people and support them,” Hindes said. After graduating from SWU, Hindes initially worked in secular counseling, but was sensing a calling in the direction of life coaching.
In addition to his work with Forge, he does life coaching with married couples and church leaders.
