Golf tournament benefits Southern Wesleyan University
Members of the first place team were Timmy Bolding, Lewis McCoy, Mike Jordan and T.L. Bivens. Each player on the first-place team received a set of Cobra irons.
The second-place team included Steve Graham, Heyward Cannon, Bob Murray and Marion Vaughn. They each won a Cobra driver.
Third-place team members were Randy Crowe, Kevin Gasque, Robby Peden and Bobby Wald. They each received a Cobra hybrid/fairway wood.
Closest to the pin winners were Warren Huff, who received a Rossa Taylor Made putter and Perry McFall, who received an Odyssey White Hot Tour putter.
The longest drive winner was Pat Evans, receiving a Ping I Series putter
Dale Gilbert, WYFF News 4 weatherman, returned as this year’s celebrity golfer.
Proceeds from the P. B. Wood Golf Tournament benefit the Promise Fund – the annual fund for Southern Wesleyan University. The tournament raised more than $27,000 for the fund.
“The money from this annual golf tournament directly benefits students at Southern Wesleyan University by providing scholarships, as well as academic and program support,” Mary Costello, executive director for development at Southern Wesleyan, said.
The tournament is named for Dr. Paul Wood, a psychologist and professor emeritus at Southern Wesleyan University.
First Citizens was the title sponsor. Co-sponsors included Palmetto Insurance and Ram Technologies. The corporate Sponsor was The Parkette, who provided the post-tournament meal. Other meals were provided by Chick fil-A of Anderson and Aramark. Piedmont Maintenance and Landscaping provided the hole-in-one insurance.
