Golf Programs Return to Southern Wesleyan University
CENTRAL, SC — Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) is proud to announce the reinstatement of Men's and Women's Golf as NCAA sports, a significant decision that marks a return to the University's commitment to providing comprehensive athletic opportunities for its students.
In a move to enhance the overall student-athlete experience, SWU is reversing the decision made in 2021 to cut the Men's and Women's Golf programs. The reinstatement demonstrates the University's dedication to fostering a well-rounded and competitive athletic program that aligns with its mission to develop the whole person—intellectually, socially, and spiritually.
To spearhead this exciting initiative, SWU plans to hire a Head Coach during the upcoming summer. The selected coach will be granted a year to assemble and prepare the teams for competition, focusing on recruiting talented student-athletes and ensuring that all aspects of the program are in place for a successful launch. The Men’s and Women's Golf teams are scheduled to begin official competition in the Fall of 2025.

Southern Wesleyan University invites alumni, students, and supporters to a celebration on April 6, 2024 from 10:00am-12:00pm. The event will be on campus at the P.B. Wood Driving Range and M.L. Atcheson Putting Green. The celebration will include food, golf skill competitions and more.
