Global Engagement: Puerto Rico

A team of SWU students spent nearly two weeks in Puerto Rico assisting with hurricane cleanup/preparedness and community service activities. On the team were Kallie Hall, Hayden Peters, Tyler Wanner, KatyBeth Rentz, Jessica Sparks, Brian Thommes, Jake Wicks and Brianna Yon; led by Campus Safety Dir. Brad Bowen, Biology Prof. Dr. Jeff Mohr and Business Prof. Jon Young.
SWU alumnus Jeremy Palomo (’12) provided invaluable additional leadership as well as language and cultural guidance. Bowen said, "God’s hand was evident in every aspect of the trip and connections were made on the island that may lead to future collaborations. Please continue to pray for the people of Puerto Rico. Some have lost everything and many people are still without dependable power or water. The road to recovery will be long and the next hurricane season is rapidly approaching.”
