Brown named headmaster at First Wesleyan Christian School
Rev. Wes Brown was appointed as new Headmaster for First Wesleyan Christian School, Gastonia, N.C.
Brown served as the lead pastor of First Wesleyan Church, Bessemer City, N.C. since 2008 and in the North Carolina West District of The Wesleyan Church (NCWD) since 1987. A 1987 Southern Wesleyan University graduate, Brown has served in pastoral ministry over the last 32 years and currently serves on Southern Wesleyan’s Board of Trustees, as well as numerous district boards in the NCWD. Brown is a Paul Harris Fellow in conjunction with the Gaston Breakfast Rotary Club, a former member of the Bessemer City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and served as coordinator of Hope 4 Gaston in Bessemer City since its inception there in 2012.
Brown’s passion is local and global outreach, leading more than a hundred volunteers on short-term trips throughout the Caribbean and Central America since 2010 (to Cuba, Jamaica, Antiqua, St. Kitts and Honduras). He has led First Wesleyan – Bessemer City to generously donate more than $100,000 each year for the last three years to missions and humanitarian causes 2015-18. Brown was named Bessemer City Citizen of the Year for 2017 for his leadership and involvement with Hope 4 Gaston as well as the Bessemer City Ministerial Alliance. He is married to Terry, his partner in life and ministry. They have three children and eight grandchildren.
