Bank helps Southern Wesleyan University ‘build foundations’
First Citizens Bank is giving $75,000 to Southern Wesleyan University’s capital campaign, Building Foundations for a New Generation.
The university’s capital campaign is the largest in the institution’s history and will provide the facilities necessary to serve Southern Wesleyan University’s growing student population.
Capital campaign projects include a new chapel/fine arts center with a 1,000-seat auditorium and space for the music department, as well as a new university center for athletic and community functions with seating for 2,500 for special events. Other campaign projects are Southern Wesleyan’s new dining commons and conference center with seating for 1,000 and a new residence hall with room for approximately 200 additional students, Teaching Excellence programs and several other projects.
“This early and significant support by First Citizens Bank is very much appreciated,” said Dr. David Spittal, president of Southern Wesleyan University. “The officers and staff of First Citizens Bank are long-term friends of the university. We appreciate them deeply and thank them for all they do to benefit our local community.”
James Apple, president of First Citizens Bank, said he is proud to be part of the university’s growth.
