ALICE training held at Southern Wesleyan University
Southern Wesleyan University Campus Safety hosted ALICE active shooter instructor training Aug. 1 and 2 at its Central campus.
ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate and is a useful strategy for everyone: law enforcement, schools, universities, hospitals, businesses, and places of worship.
Representatives from area law enforcement, business and education attended the training. Once certified, instructors can go back and train their organizations on how to react to active shooter events using the ALICE model. Central Police Officer Greg Taylor and Southern Wesleyan’s Safety Coordinator Adam Ladd represented SWU and will become instructors upon certification. Southern Wesleyan’s Campus Safety Director Brad Bowen is already certified and will be working with Greg and Adam to develop training for SWU faculty, staff and students.”
