2006 P.B. Wood Golf Tournament benefits Southern Wesleyan
Golf teams teed off at the Pickens Country Club for Southern Wesleyan University’s annual Paul B. Wood Golf Tournament, sponsored by First Citizens Bank and Trehel Corporation.
“We were so pleased with the number of people who played in our tournament this year. We had chilly weather, but the competition was hot,” said Erin Fellers, Southern Wesleyan University development associate.
Members of the first place team were Doug Edwards, Fred Keith, Matt Giffin and Greg Horne, all of Easley. Each player on the first-place team received TaylorMade RAC OS series irons with steel shafts.
The second-place team included Tim Bolding, Benji McGaha, Doug Brown and Mike Jordan, all of Easley. They won TaylorMade Rescue Duels.
Third-place team members were Todd Hendley of Simpsonville, Chad Hendley of Greenville, Mark Hendley of Greer and Jimmy Wilson of Greenville. They received TaylorMade Rescue Mids.
This year’s celebrity golfer was Dale Gilbert, WYFF News 4 weatherman.
Proceeds from the Paul B. Wood Golf Tournament benefit The Promise Fund – the Annual Fund for SWU. The tournament raised more than $33,000 for the fund.
“The money we raise from our annual golf tournament directly benefits students at Southern Wesleyan University by providing scholarships, as well as academic and program support,” Fellers said.
The tournament is named for Dr. Paul Wood, a psychologist and professor emeritus at Southern Wesleyan University.
