
Department of Humanities
As part of the School of Religion & Humanities, the Department of Humanities prepares you to explore and apply your interests and God-given talents in various settings. The Department of Humanities offers on-campus Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Public Policy, Media Communication, and Writing and Digital Studies. The department offers minors in Digital Communications, History and Public Policy, History, Literature, Media Communication, and Writing and Digital Studies. As a student in the Department of Humanities, you’ll broaden your intellectual horizons, learn to think logically, analyze complex issues, and practice effective written and spoken communication.
Mission Statement
Through its degree-granting programs of study as well as its responsibilities for teaching General Education classes, the Department of Humanities is dedicated to the mission of:
- Cultivating in our students a big-picture understanding of our culture and our world that includes an awareness of the interrelated nature of the different disciplines that are part of the humanities;
- Helping our students to develop a well-informed Christian worldview that enables them to see each of the disciplines from a Christian perspective;
- Inculcating in our students the ability to think critically and to communicate effectively, in both written and oral form, in their professional and personal lives; and
- Building in our students a standard and a habit of excellence so that they may maximize their effectiveness in serving God, serving others, and impacting our culture in a positive and transformative manner.
