Elementary Education (BS)

Teach with excellence. Lead with faith.

If you love working with kids, an Elementary Education degree from SWU will help you make an impact that lasts a lifetime. Here, you’ll prepare to teach second through sixth graders and graduate with a deep understanding of the central concepts, principles, theories, and research related to childhood development.

You’ll be ready to address elementary students’ diverse needs in the classroom while demonstrating a Christ-centered ethic of care toward learners, yourself, your colleagues, and the community you serve.

Four field experiences with different grade levels and school cultures will support you in integrating your faith while delivering effective, engaging instruction in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. The Association for Childhood Education International and the South Carolina Department of Education recognize the Elementary Education degree.
