We All Need Help Sometimes
SWU provides free professional counseling on request. The best counseling enables you to discover your own answers, gifts and life direction. You do not have to struggle alone. There is help. The Counseling Center staff members are committed to helping every student who comes to succeed in reaching academic, emotional, spiritual, and life goals, in spite of life challenges.
A student’s name and issues will not be disclosed outside the session.
We provide confidential assistance with problems such as drug and alcohol use, sexual immorality, date rape and other behaviors not in compliance with SWU’s conduct expectations.
We are not asked to give knowledge gained in the counselor-client relationship to other campus employees.
Only a client can permit confidential information to be released.
We can and will break confidentiality when we believe the client is a danger to self or others, or in response to a court order.
We support the policies and expectations of the SWU lifestyle. We are aware that students will not always be in agreement with those expectations. We do not report or discipline misconduct, but support every student-client-patient in making the wisest and healthiest decisions and choices possible for them.
