Gospel Extravaganza to lift voices at Southern Wesleyan
Southern Wesleyan University’s Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Building will be filled with the sound of gospel music on Palm Sunday.
The music begins at 3 p.m. on April 5 and will feature Pastor and Mrs. Mark Burns as emcees of this time of praise and worship. Burns is the pastor of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Westminster, S.C.
The host choir will be Southern Wesleyan's own Sing With Unity. Choirs to perform include Charleston Southern University Gospel Choir, Yielded Vessels, Tabernacle Praise Team, Adoration and Praise, Bethlehem Baptist Church Youth Choir, New Life in Christ Mass Choir, Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church Mass Choir and Ebenezer Baptist Church Mass Choir. Interpretive movement groups include New Galilee, Selah Praise Team and Faith Sticks. Stephanie Staggers will perform as a soloist.
The theme of the event is new beginnings and cites Romans 6:4: “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Admission is free and groups are welcome. For details, call Betty Walker at 864-644-5556.
