Information and Services for Faculty

Reserves
Please use this Reserve form (print it or fill it out, save it, and email it to Joni Addis) to request that books, photocopies of articles, or audiovisual material be placed on reserve for your course.  Please allow 3 to 5 days for processing before announcing to your students that the items are available in the library.

Photocopies that will be used in multiple semesters may need copyright clearance.  Please contact Anita Gray for more information.  The Library reserves the right to refuse to place on reserve items that do not meet fair use guidelines, including copyright clearance.

Electronic reserves are possible within MyCampus, and we can assist with that as well.

  • For articles that are available in full text from one of the library's databases, inserting a persistent link into a citation on MyCampus is sufficient to both provide access and satisfy copyright and fair use contstraints.  Persistent links are generally provided within the detailed records in the databases.
  • For articles that must be scanned, it may be necessary to seek copyright clearance.  The CTL may be able to pay any fees for copyright compliance.  Please contact Anita Gray for more information on fair use within electronic reserves.

Research and Information Use Sessions for Classes
At faculty members' request and with sessions developed in consultation with the faculty member, the library will visit classes to help students understand the research process, identify resources for particular assignments, evaluate resources, and/or delve into other skills and concepts related to research and information.

Faculty who seek such assistance for their students will be contacted by a librarian to learn more about the faculty member's goals for the students' learning.  Each session is tailored to the students' needs for a particular assignment.  For more information or to schedule a session, please contact Anita Gray.

Faculty who are interested in revising assignments to involve the use of new or additional information sources or who seek advice on enhancing information literacy concepts within their course projects are welcome to contact a librarian for a brainstorming session.

Research Consultations
Appointments are available for SWU faculty across the state to meet with a reference librarian for individualized assistance.  Please contact us to schedule an appointment.
