Where is the photocopier?

As soon as you walk into the library, there is a doorway on your right. Through the doorway on the right hand wall is the photocopier. To make copies you will need change or a copy key. Copies are ten cents each when using cash and five cents each when using a copy key. To purchase a copy key, you must pay a $5 deposit and pay $5 for the money on the key used to actually make copies. When you have used all the copies on the key, return it to the front desk.  You may obtain another copy key for $5 or we will refund your $5 deposit.

How do I get to the elevator?

From the front doors go straight through the glass doors in front of you. You will see three reference computers and half of our current periodicals on your left. Just past these on the left is the hallway where the elevator is located.

Where are the restrooms?

There are restrooms on each floor of the library.

  • On the main floor: When entering through the front door, turn to your right and go straight through both doorways. There are men's and women's bathrooms on your left. There is also a handicap-accessible bathroom located in the hallway that leads to the elevator and the back stairwell.
  • On the second floor: There are men's and women's bathrooms to the left of the stairwell located at the front of the building.  The  handicap-accessible bathroom upstairs is located in the hallway beside the elevator.
  • On the lower level:  From the front stairwell, the ladies' room is to the left and around the corner near the end of the hallway.  The men's room is to the right and around the corner near the end of the hallway.

 Where are all the books?

Our reference books are on the main floor. No, these aren't all the books we have. Our circulating books are located on the second floor of the library.  A circulating collection of juvenile books and curriculum resources are on the lower level.

Where are the AV materials?

Videotapes, DVDs, CDs, and audiotapes are located at the circulation desk.  Record albums (LPs) are located on the upper level near the books with call number 780s.  This is on a shelf on the back side of the walled section that includes the elevator.

How do I get downstairs?

As soon as you enter the library, turn right and go through the first doorway. On your left is the stairwell leading downstairs. Once downstairs, the library juvenile collection, Information Technology offices, and the Brown computer lab are to your left. The Green computer lab is to your right. The curriculum lab has entrances on both sides.  You can also use the elevator to access all three levels.

How do I get upstairs?

As soon as you enter the library, turn right and go through the first doorway. On your left is the stairwell leading upstairs.  Another stairwell is in the back of the building -- go through the glass doors, past the current periodicals, and through the doorway on your left.  Immediately on your right you will see the stairwell.  You can also use the elevator.  The upper level houses most of our circulating books, the Clayton Geneological collection, and four study rooms.

Where are the study rooms?

Study rooms are located on the upper level of the library.  There are two rooms at the top of the stairs located in the front of the library.  There are two rooms near the back of the building as well.  The Curriculum Lab in the lower level is available for group study, as well as tables on the main level near the windows and reference collection.

Where is the Clayton room?

The Clayton Geneological collection is located on the upper level of the library at the front of the building.  Use the front stairs and turn left at the top or use the elevator and go to the front of the building.  For more information about this collection, click here.

My prof wants me to watch a VHS. Do you have a VCR I can use?

Yes, you can check out a key to our listening room which has a VCR, DVD player, CD player, record player, and more!

Where are the current periodicals?

The current periodicals are on the main floor of the library. Those starting with the letters A through O are located on the right as soon as you go through the glass doors. P through Z can be found on the left-hand wall.

Where are the older periodicals?

The older periodicals are on the second floor.  To find them, go up the back stairwell and walk straight across the back of the building toward the windows.  If you use the elevator, turn right upon exiting and walk straight across toward the windows.  The older periodicals are bound, so they will look like big, thick books.  They are arranged in call number order.  To find the call number, use SWUcat or one of the periodical notebooks in the reference area.

Where is the tutoring center?

The Center for Transformational Learning (CTL) tutoring center is now located in Brower 104.
