Clemson UniversityStudents who have been accepted by Southern Wesleyan University may take courses at Clemson University to strengthen their major course of study or as elective courses. Students who wish to participate in the cooperative program must register for the course and pay tuition fees at Southern Wesleyan University. No fees are paid to Clemson University by the student. Army and Air Force ROTC Students who are accepted by Southern Wesleyan University may register for either the Army or Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps at Clemson University. Four and two year programs are available. Certain restriction apply. See catalog for details.
Council of Christian Colleges and UniversitiesMedical Technology Students who are accepted by Southern Wesleyan University may receive specialized training in medical technology by spending their final year of college residence at an institution that offers the necessary courses in medical technology and which is acceptable to Southern Wesleyan University. The University cannot guarantee acceptance at such an institution. Technical Schools Criminal Justice (Police Science) Students completing an associate's degree program in criminal justice at an accredited college or technical institution may transfer credit from that curriculum to Southern Wesleyan University, where they may then complete a bachelor's degree in psychology in two years. This option will result in earning a B.A. degree with a major in psychology and a minor in criminal justice. For more information contact the academic dean of Southern Wesleyan University. The Council of Christian Colleges and Universities, an association of over ninety Christ-centered colleges and universities of the liberal arts and sciences, is committed to cultivating communities of educational excellence in which the Lordship of Jesus Christ is central. It seeks to equip faculty, students, and administrative leadership with a biblical worldview for responsible participation in the global community. Upper division students in most majors who are interested in having "real world" on-the-job experience and in exploring current national and international issues with professionals are eligible to apply for admission to any of the following programs. Founded in 1976, the American Studies Program serves as the "Washington campus" of Council member colleges and is based on the principle of integrating faith, learning and living. Students spend a semester in Washington, D.C. earning academic credit by serving as interns and participating in a contemporary, issue-oriented seminar program. Internships are available in congressional offices, social service agencies, think tanks, cultural institutions and many other organizations. The American Studies Program is designed for junior and seniors with a wide range of academic majors and vocational interests. Latin American Studies ProgramAn opportunity to live and learn in Latin America is available to students from Council member colleges through the Latin American Studies Program. Located in San Jose, Costa Rica, the program gives students the opportunity to study the language, culture, politics, history, economics, ecology, and religion of the region while living with a Costa Rica family. Students also participate in a service opportunity and travel for two weeks to surrounding countries. Two specialized academic tracks, International Business and Management and Tropical Sciences and Sustainability, are available to qualified students.
Los Angeles Film Studies CenterIn January 1991, the Council inaugurated the Los Angeles Film Studies Center. Its purpose is to enable college students to serve in various aspects of the film industry with professional skill and Christian integrity. Located in Burbank near major production studios, the semester-long program combines seminar courses with internships in various segments of the film industry, providing the opportunity to explore the industry within a Christian context and from a liberal arts perspective.
